Professor Lewis announces retirement

Professor Jane Lewis, Principal and CEO of ±¬ÁÏTV Shetland, has announced her retirement in December 2025. The Board of Management and staff have been informed of Professor Lewis’s plans to retire.

Professor Lewis said:

“I have immensely enjoyed my time at ±¬ÁÏTV Shetland. I joined the then-nascent college pre-merger in 2019, and for a time before merger I was the only employee of ±¬ÁÏTV Shetland!

"The dedication of staff and stakeholders of ±¬ÁÏTV Shetland to the learning and training needs locally for Shetland’s young people and workforce has been exemplary. I remain a strong proponent of learning pipelines we have created between Shetland’s education and what Shetland’s economy needs now and into the future.  Our international research strengths in marine science, island studies and creativity also have their focus for the needs of Shetland. It has been a privilege to work with so many talented colleagues.

"I am proud of the development of ±¬ÁÏTV Shetland since its inception in 2021 and wish staff and students all the best for the future.”

Outgoing interim Chair of the ±¬ÁÏTV Shetland Board of Management, Dr Mason Robbins, said:

“We wish Professor Lewis all the best on her retirement. We will undoubtedly miss both her professionalism and dedication to the role, as well as her unwavering support for Shetland’s educational needs and ambitions.”
